Friends can make the world go round for you. But they can also turn your life into a living hell. Of course we all change with time and that can reflect on friendship as well. If hanging with your old group of friends leaves you with a feeling of emptiness and if their interference in every sphere of your life is causing you trouble, it’s time you cut yourself loose from the bunch. It may sound harsh, but here are some signs you might be needing a fresh set of friends in your life:
Talking behind your back
As Oscar Wilde put it, a good friend will always stab you in the front. In other words, true friends will not be afraid to say to your face what they don’t like about you. They won’t criticise you or malign you when you are out of earshot!
Snarky comments about your work
For instance, you are associated with the world of entertainment whereas most of your friends have conventional jobs. If they try to show your work in a poor light or dismiss it as being inconsequential, beware.
Making you slog
If there’s a get-together or any activity that you plan together and your friends make you organise everything, you should know where you could draw the line.
Ain’t fun anymore
Do you feel bored while travelling with your friends these days? Travel is a good way of finding out whether friends are great companions or not. Are there frequent disagreements over petty issues between you all during such trips? This is a red flag.
Won’t support any new person in your life
If you are dating someone, do you feel that your friends are going out of their way to make him feel unwelcome? And for no substantive reason whatsoever? It’s a clear sign they are not being your true friends.
